The United States Practical Shooting Association is organized
into 8 "Areas", each of which is represented by
an Area Director at the board meetings of the organization.
USPSA also welcomes foreign affiliates, which are not
considered members of an area (although you will occasionally
see the foreign clubs referred to as members of Area 9).
Each Area is divided into sections. Each section is represented
by a Section Coordinator who is responsible for coordinating
the activities of clubs within his/her section, and managing
the nationals slot distribution process.
Occasionally a club will be an "independent", and
not a member of a section. This is generally due to geographic
isolation from other sections.
