After a year-long, member-generated rules audit, the RMI corps and Rules Committee presented a set of proposed modifications to the USPSA Competition Rules, USPSA Rifle, Shotgun, and Multigun Rules, and Steel Challenge Shooting Association rules to the USPSA Board of Directors at the January 28th, 2023 in-person meeting.

Only some of the proposals were accepted by the USPSA Board. You can review the proceedings here.  However, most of the proposed changes were accepted, providing more freedom and clarity with stage design, scoring methods, gun handling, and target types. The board voted to make these effective on March 1st, 2023.

The new rules will be available on March 1st, 2023, on the USPSA Rules Page, along with the change logs detailing the changes. SCSA rules are available on the SCSA rules page, change log included.

In addition to the rules audit changes, there are two rulings approved by the board included in the 2023 Competition rules. These concern rules 10.2.2 and 10.2.2.1 and is intended to clarify the application of procedural penalties in certain circumstances.  The rulings can be found here.

NROI has updated the exams to reflect the new rules and has added a few questions to the certification and re-certification exams to cover them. Please use the new rules on any exam started on or after March 1st, 2023.

The LMS system and the RO and CRO seminar presentations have also been updated.
