|Update on the USPSA 'tech project'
On March 15, a full v-team review of the USPSA "tech project" took place at the headquarters offices in Burlington, Washington. Participants comprised a cross-section of viewpoints across the organization, including Rick Brotzel and Roger Maier from HQ, Rob Boudrie representing the technical design process, Troy McManus representing NROI, Mike Foley and Bruce Gary representing the Board, and Chris Taylor representing USPSA marketing.
Over the course of the day, the team reviewed progress and priorities for the tech project. Of note, the work to integrate a number of disparate function-specific databases into a single database structure is now complete, providing for the first time a solid foundation we can leverage for a more flexible and capable classification system, as well as such things as enhanced reporting, statistical analysis and match management functionality. The working team will begin migrating legacy data-flows into the new structure when testing has been completed.
The team also reviewed the project schedule, the security infrastructure and review processes in place to protect the data, the development tasks currently underway, and the timeline for building the new website "look and feel" to take advantage of the new data structures. The first phases of new member — and club — functionality are currently on track for deployment in mid-2016.
