| Wounded Warrior Appreciation Raffle a success!
January 19, 2012 was a big night for USPSA, and more importantly, several charitable organizations. USPSA hosted an online raffle with all proceeds to benefit Law Enforcement United, Lead The Way Fund , and the Stars and Stripes Foundation. In only a couple weeks with little notice, USPSA managed to sell over 400 tickets and raise over $7000 for these worthy causes.
The night started off with a catered dinner at Gordon Beirsch, and several on-site raffles and auctions. All in all, over $30,000 worth of product was raffled, auctioned, and donated, with 100% of any and all funds received going back to our wounded warriors!
Towards the end of the night, I announced the three winners of the prize packages, and with great pleasure, presented checks to all 3 organizations. I was honored to be a part of this event, and was so overwhelmed with the sense of brotherhood and charity among our armed services and police. Probably the most special moment was when CSM Mark Christianson of the Stars and Stripes Foundation made the announcement that he wanted to donate his balance of the proceeds to the other charities. I was speechless...and that doesn't happen very often!
Matt Burkett and Predator Tactical also held a raffle for over $15,000 worth of product for the Lone Survivor Foundation, which was also a huge success. They have been doing this since it started, and USPSA was happy to help him out with the other 3 prize packages.
A very special thanks is deserved to the sponsors who were more than willing to donate their products to the cause. Without them, this wouldn't have happened.
Please keep your eyes open for next year's benefit. Talks are already under way to start another benefit raffle as early as Summer 2012!
